My car's developed an intermittent fault over the last few days.

If in traffic queues, or any driving conditions where there's a lot of stopping and starting, the engine will begin to massively over rev when standing idle. If this continues, the engine warning lamp comes on and the revving problem stops, but the car begins to "lurch". This doesn't happen when acceleratng, but when the car's "coasting". Leave the car overnight, and come back in the morning, the engine warning lamp is back off, and the car can drive fine until hitting any similar driving conditions described above - any ideas please?

Cheers!

I'm no expert (particulaly not with your model) however this sounds like a sensor, which is affected by heat..
