change water pump with cambelt?

OK, this is how it is..

The waterpump, while not driven by the cambelt as with some other cars, cannot be changed unless the cambelt is removed. The procedure to replace the waterpump, according to Tiburon Automotive, is a bit of a git...mainly due to poor access. The sealent used has to be fully removed before the new pump is inserted, and it does add a bit of time.

Weigh up the costs of this extra labour against the length of time you'll be keeping the car and it's anticipated mileage.

Balance this against the facts that a pattern part pump is something of an unknown quantity (and that many OEM pumps are still going strong after 150K miles) and make your choice accordingly.
