got a warranty?
what we know............
your coupe comes with a five year warranty
to keep it up you must have the car serviced at the intervals required by hyundai.
Q.my car needs servicing its got to be done by hyundai.....myth
any garage can do it,provided you keep service record up to date-its always preferable for them to use hyundai parts then if summat goes wrong dealer cant blame cheap parts
Q.i dont need bother with bodywork inspection......myth
its better to keep it examined.then you can always claim for rust or dodgy paintwork.contrary to belief most dealers will fix rust as they can claim it as being manufacturing defect
Q.i cant fit cai because of warranty........myth
most dealers turn a blind eye to this as there is not really anything it can cause to go wrong.however if it puts on the engine check light expect to pay to have it turned off
Q.i cant fit aftermarket exhaust because of warranty......myth
again dealers are not bothered.just dont expect any sympathy if your cat goes wrong.they might just bill you.then again if its a good dealer it wont
Q.i cant change anything interior wise because of warranty-myth crap crap crap and crap.but a few things to be careful of.if you change the guage faces and your speedo or fuel guage packs up dont expect it fixed under warranty.same if you change steering wheel badge and airbag goes faulty.short shifters can give you a bit of trouble too.the biggest no no is DONT WIRE ANYTHING TO YOUR ECU such as a piggyback.this WILL invalidate your warranty.come to think of it be very careful about tapping anything into any wiring harness.
Q.i cant change my back lights-myth
yes you can but dont be shocked when your cruise control dont work if you use l.e.d.s.i can assure you from hard earned experience the bill is £120.00 to discover this
Q.i cant fit new alloys-myth
yes you can.no problem with that.just make sure they are right for the car.too big could lead to dealer finding damage in the arches, leading to suspension claims being thrown out.also dont fit anything thats plain wrong because dealers might blame wheeelnut faults on you.also dont fit sh*te ones cos they might refuse you cos you have plain bad taste
Q.i cant fit new spoiler or bodykit-myth
yes and no.if you drill your body it will invalidate corroision warranty.but a spoiler from korea wont see!
Q.my new stereo will invalidate the warranty
yes it could do if you carve up the dash but provided its properly fitted in the same hole it shouldnt do.
Q.hyundai will sort my dealer when i ring them-myth
hyundai dont get directly involved they will intervene on your behalf but they wont directly fall out with a dealer for you.thats your job.
Q. i cant fit new cams etc in my engine-truth
any dealer will take a very dim view to this type of work.when i say this type of work i mean ANYTHING physically INSIDE the engine not the engine bay
Q.tatlocking my lights will invalidate the warranty-truth
but only on the lights not the car
the truth of the matter is,most small things you do invalidate the warranty on that item-not the car-thats an old wives tale.yes hyundai can do that but i bet its very rare they do.
all this info came from a tame dealer..but the basic rules are...............
get friendly with your dealer...........if in in doubt ask before doing
a really crap dealer by me called lam(name changed to protect alm...whoops sorry)told me they could invalidate the warranty because of tuscani badges on the car............
another dealers direct quote was "THEY ARE HAVING A LAUGH RIGHT????"
use your common sense and mod safely
