Hi, had my SIII 2 weeks now and going to have the cambelt changed next week as now 50k miles on clock.

Im also going to change the auxillary pullys as a precaution, should I change the water pump too or leave this?

Euro car parts have a water pump for under £30.00 by circoli, are these ok.

Regards

OK, this is how it is..

The waterpump, while not driven by the cambelt as with some other cars, cannot be changed unless the cambelt is removed. The procedure to replace the waterpump, according to Tiburon Automotive, is a bit of a git...mainly due to poor access. The sealent used has to be fully removed before the new pump is inserted, and it does add a bit of time.

Weigh up the costs of this extra labour against the length of time you'll be keeping the car and it's anticipated mileage.

Balance this against the facts that a pattern part pump is something of an unknown quantity (and that many OEM pumps are still going strong after 150K miles) and make your choice accordingly.

hi jack the stripper, ive decided to change the lot just for the piece of mind then i wont have any worries for 3 or 4 years.

i ordered a kit from shark racing, original parts too from hyundai korea, it included all the other belts and the water pump, the whole lot £129.00 inc postage, i will have to wait around 2 weeks for delivery but will fell happier knwing al this is done.

my local hyundai dealer wanted to rip me off £155.00 for the water pump alone, 600 with labour.

I know a local mechanic who will do the work for 100.00 so the lot will cost me around £230. i think that squite good.

then i can look at personalising the car a bit, not a boy racer but like a car to run smooth, ordered a k n panel filter too as my first minor mod.

Just received timing belt kit from Shark Racing, it came with water pump, pas belt, ac belt and alternator belt, a very comprehensive kit.
All the parts were in sealed Hyundai boxes and seem genuine.

Be aware though, i had to pay customes tax at around £15.00, so allow for this when comparing prices, even so still much cheaper than anywhere i could find in the uk.
Due to have all fitted next Friday, that will take care of all the preventitive maintenence, then ready for some upgrades, maybe an exhaust header!

Hi,
i had my cam belt replaced about 5 months ago only done 56 000 but i left the water pump out thinking it would be good for some time yet. wrong it has started leaking from a hole in the top of the pump. i decided to tackle the problem myself not realizing at the time the cambelt had to come off to get to the 2 bolts on the left of the pump. so i changed it scraped the gasket off reassembeled it and great started lovely, then noticed the waterfall, so took it all off again and spotted a piece of gasket still on there in the dark top corner, eventually got it all off and its now great. it was my first time tackling this job now i'm pleased i did as really it was not that hard a job a bit fiddly but doable. my advise have a go??AND MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE GASKET OFF FIRST TIME
